First of all, my doggy. Let me show you him.

He is crazy and adorable and not totally house trained yet, so he's taking up most of my spare time. His name is Alfie, short for Alfred. However, he looks a bit like a gorilla so I've taken to calling him Grape Ape.
And now for the dispatches.
What I Read
East by Edith Pattou
A fairy tale retelling of "East of the Sun and West of the Moon," this charming and beautifully written novel made me feel happy.
Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
One of the best Urban Fantas/Faerie stories I've read in a long time.
The New Policeman by Kate Thompson
Another modern take on Faerie, this time from Ireland. I wanted to whip out a fiddle and play all of the traditional tunes that Thompson transcribes.
I've also been ordering lots of knitting books from the library to see if they're worth buying. So far, Glamour Knits, Knit Komono, Domiknitrix and a book on knitting dog sweaters are all no-gos.
What I Watched
No Country for Old Men was incredible and totally Oscar worthy. Every frame of that film was perfect. Deadwood season 2 was pretty amazing, and it sure does make me want to swear a lot. And to wear corsets and torn up thigh high stockings. Lost has once again become a must see for me (thank you Brian K. Vaughn).
What I Knit
The Two Toned Ribbed Shrug from "Fitted Knits." At first it seemed too small but once I stretched it out it fit just fine.
Malabrigo is some cozy ass yarn, is all I have to say.And I'm currently working on the Monkey socks. I've never done a Cookie pattern before, so this is super exciting.
And finally, What I Ate
We had family in town, and eating with meat eaters always makes for a challenge. Where can we go that will satisfy everyone? We went to many of the old standbys, like El Zarape and Rancho's.
We also went to City Wok, which was decent, fast, fresh tasting Chinese food with some vegetarian options.
And of course, Hash House A Go Go, which delivers gigantic plates of food and tasty biscuits every time.
So there you have it. My last 2 months, summarized while the dog sleeps. Pretty soon I expect I'll do a continuing blog series on dog parks, beaches, and dog friendly dining. But first I have to convince the dog to stop pooping in my house.
