3 projects on the needles!
This is unprecedented. Unfortunately, my camera is out of town so I don't have proof of this miracle. But I do have descriptions, and I'll take photos of the finished objects later.
1. The Boatneck Bluebell sweater from Fitted Knits. I'm using a nice bright pink merino superwash wool. I had to tear it out and redo it once because it was too big and looked horrible on me. I ended up making a size smaller and changing it a bit--I made some of the design elements littler so that they wouldn't obscure my petite frame. Right now I have to finish the sleeves, which is proving troublesome. I guess I should have switched to straight needles, or else my technique is all wrong, because the sleeves are pulling apart at the underarms as I try to knit them flat on my circular needles. Maybe this will be corrected as they get longer?
2. A terrible, awful, hateful little baby sweater. It's a wrap style sweater
that I've knit in washable light green wool. Seriously, I will never make
another Debbie Bliss pattern again unless it comes with a recommendation from someone that it is not the devil. Everything that I hate about knitting comes to fruition in this sweater: fussiness, unclear instructions, too many pieces that aren't meshing together in a cute fashion. I doubt they will even have him wear the sweater because the way it's constructed is going to make it uncomfortable to wear. It has a huge collar that folds over according to the photo, but appears to refuse to fold on mine. And the pattern comes with insufficient photos. And despite getting very close to gauge, it's tiny. I bet they make it into teddy bear clothes or something.
3. I cast on a Clapotis last night! I'm using a sport weight minty green acrylic yarn (I know, I know)that I had originally bought to make into a baby blanket until I realized thatif I tried to knit a blanket out of sport weight the baby would be 30 years old before I was done. I wanted to try the Clappy on something cheaper and decide if I really want to invest $80 or more in a nicer yarn. I am coveting theseVickie Howell yarns --the bamboo and silk sounds so wonderful. And look at the Mulder and Scully color! I'm dying. I must have it. But that makes for a very pricy Clapotis. So first I'll test run the pattern and work out the kinks. I'm still not sure that I'm doing the knit through the back of the loop thing correctly.
Hopefully by next week the baby sweater will be done, and I can move on to socks.
